Japanese tiles have achieved a distinct evolution as decorative materials for the exterior walls of buildings. They don't require grouting, so a variety of surface textures were created.
HATSURI
In Japanese, HATSURI means carving off by blade. It is the surface three-dimensional like a mountain, and features wild texture.
CERA-HATSURI
SCRATCH
This texture is made by scratching with nails. Scratch tile is often seen in old Japanese buildings. It is also the tile that led to the founding of INAX.
SAWARABI
ROUGH
This texture is made by scratching the surface with grains of sand. It features the texture of clay and a rustic atmosphere. There are many different shapes of this texture.
